What actually pays you back in Pennsylvania

No fake urgency, no rounded-up numbers — here's what's real for PA homeowners in 2026.

1:1 net metering

PECO, PPL, and Pennsylvania's other investor-owned utilities credit every kilowatt-hour you send to the grid at retail rate, with credits typically rolling over to an annual true-up.

SREC income

Your system earns one Solar Renewable Energy Credit for roughly every 1,000 kWh it produces. A typical PA home system can generate around 9–10 SRECs a year, sellable through SREC brokers on top of your bill savings.

No statewide rebate

Pennsylvania doesn't currently offer a blanket state solar rebate — we won't pretend otherwise. Some utilities offer separate efficiency rebates unrelated to solar.

Honest note on the federal tax credit: the 30% federal residential solar tax credit (Section 25D) expired for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. It does not apply to systems installed in 2026, and we'll never quote it as a current incentive. Leased systems may qualify for a separate, different credit structure — ask us if that applies to you.

Snow load, ice damming & hail — designed in, not an afterthought

Pennsylvania roofs deal with heavy snow accumulation, freeze-thaw cycles, and occasional hail. Every PA install accounts for it:

  • Snow-load-rated racking engineered to the structural load your roof and local code require.
  • Ice-and-water-shield underlayment and ventilation review to reduce ice damming risk at the eaves.
  • Steeper tilt angles that account for Pennsylvania's lower winter sun angle and help panels shed snow faster.
  • Impact-resistant roofing options for hail-prone counties, bundled with your solar project when a reroof is needed.
