What solar actually costs — and saves

Honest ranges, no fake urgency. Use the estimator for a ballpark, then get an itemized quote built for your home.

Heads up: figures on this page are illustrative estimates, not a quote. Real pricing and savings depend on your usage, roof, location, system size, and financing. The federal residential solar tax credit expired for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025 and is not reflected below.

How we operate

How We Operate

Every home is different, so we start with an in-home energy audit to understand your energy usage and evaluate your property. From there, we'll walk you through:

  • Your recommended system size
  • A custom panel layout for your home
  • Energy savings
  • The installation process and what to expect

Our goal is to give you the information you need to make an informed decision based on your home and your goals.

Net metering

How net metering works — and whether you qualify

Enter your utility and ZIP code for a quick read, then see how it actually works in plain English.

Pennsylvania

How it works here

When your panels make more power than your home is using, the extra flows out onto the grid — and PA utilities credit your account for it, kilowatt-hour for kilowatt-hour, at a full 1:1 rate. At night, or on a gray winter day, you pull power back from the grid and those banked credits cover it. At the end of the month, you're only billed for the difference.

Florida

How it works here

Same idea, sunnier math. Long Florida days mean your system often produces more than you're using in the middle of the day — that extra gets exported to the grid and credited 1:1. You draw it back down overnight or during storms, so your bill reflects your net usage for the month, not everything you produced.

Questions

Pricing & net metering, explained

How much does home solar cost?

It depends on system size, equipment, and your roof — which is why HomeX gives an itemized, fixed quote after a free assessment rather than a one-size number. Use the estimator above for a rough illustration only.

What's the biggest way solar actually saves me money?

Net metering. It's the mechanism that makes solar pencil out in both Pennsylvania and Florida — check your utility and ZIP above, or see how it works in the section above the estimator.

Do you offer financing?

Financing options, including plans with little or no money down, may be available. We'll go over what fits your situation during your free consultation, so the monthly math is clear before you decide anything.

Will solar really lower my bill?

Solar replaces power you'd otherwise buy from the utility. Actual savings depend on your usage, system size, local rates, and sun exposure. We model your specific numbers during the free assessment rather than promising a blanket percentage.
